Well, if you know me already, you know I get very passionate about things I like. All you have to say something about ofsted and the amount holidays the teachers have to start me off. You won't be able to stop me .....So, let's not go there.
If you say food, that's it... I will be there, especially if it involves friends and giggles. In a way travelling has given me loads of chances to try out different cuisines and tastes.
Then there is travel! My strong point, weakness and trigger. Everything in one!
I think in the last five or six years, there wasn't a day that I have not spoken about or planned a holiday for myself or others. Between June 2014 and now, I have travelled to more than 30 places and 25 countries including twice to my favourite island; Saint Lucia. When I travel this many times a year to so many places, how do I keep the memories? Of course, the experiences will never going to leave your mind and I remember every second of every holiday I have been on and of course I have the photos I take with my trusty Samsung phones. But I do love my souvenirs! It is funny, because my husband owns a souvenir shop in Windsor, maybe that kind of crept onto me. It is hard buying a souvenir when he comes to the shops with me because he will know straight away the quality and the price.
So, what do I buy? Well.... I must have to have a magnet wherever I go.. be it a city or an attraction, I buy one so that I have a visual reminder of my visit. And they have to have the name of the place or the attraction otherwise I don't buy it. Now my daughter has started to do it too. She once bought me a magnet from Tenerife I think, without the name and oh boy! I was not a happy mama!! The next time she got the name bit right, but it was not a magnet... You guessed it. Now, she doesn't bother! As you can see in the photos my fridge freezer's door frame is now nearly covered by my magnets. There are two options to overcome this problem; either stop buying magnets or buy another fridge freezer. I will let you guess what my option might be!
After seeing the amount of magnets I have, you might think 'ok, that's the only thing she brings back from her travels'. Let me tell you my loyal ones, NO. I buy calendars too. If I go away in the first 3 months of the year, I buy that year's calendar and after that I will be looking for the following year. The excitement I get when I turn the pages every month can't be described in simple words. All that travel memories would flood back and send me back to that place....
Now, there is one thing I stopped buying, other memorabilia. I used to buy something for my glass cabinets in the hall, which is also now full if you must know.... Now I buy them as gifts and time to time I have been known to keep one for me even now! But I have been trying to stop myself doing it.
There you have it... my travel obsessions! What do you bring back from your travels other than the fabulous memories you've created? Share it in the comments.
